Project Description
LMAC Group has been delivering specialist fire protection and refurbishment works at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Orpington for over three years, working in partnership with VINCI Facilities.
Due to the operational demands of a busy acute hospital environment, the majority of works are carried out during night shifts, enabling essential upgrades to take place while minimising disruption to patients, clinicians, and hospital operations.
Our consistent team of eight experienced fire protection operatives works exclusively on the site during out-of-hours periods. This continuity of personnel has been a key success factor, allowing the workforce to develop strong familiarity with:
- The hospital layout and complex building infrastructure
- Infection prevention and control protocols
- Emergency access routes and critical care areas
- Site-specific health and safety procedures
- The hospital estates and VINCI project teams
This familiarity ensures works can be delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal operational impact.

Working in a Live Hospital Environment
Delivering construction and compliance works in a hospital setting requires rigorous planning, coordination, and sensitivity to the operational environment.

- Night-time working schedules to reduce disruption to patients and clinical staff
- Close coordination with the hospital estates team and VINCI Facilities
- Strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
- Careful segregation of work areas to maintain patient safety
- Detailed method statements and risk assessments for all activities
This approach allows essential upgrades to be completed without impacting critical healthcare services.
Quality, Compliance and Safety
All fire protection works are completed by fully accredited operatives using tested and certified fire-stopping systems. LMAC maintains rigorous quality assurance procedures including:
- Photographic installation records
- Fire stopping registers and documentation
- Manufacturer-compliant installation methods
- Certification of electrical works and EICR reporting
Health and safety remains central to delivery, with all works conducted in line with site-specific hospital protocols, CDM requirements, and LMAC’s internal safety management systems.
