Project Description

Located in the heart of Peterborough City Centre, Bayard Plaza was formerly the main offices for Peterborough City Council. Due to several multi-million pound investments to regenerate the city it has become a commuter haven which has meant an increasing number of people are choosing to make Peterborough their home. It was decided to re-develop this impressive building to provide 102 new apartments including 14 penthouses.

Challenges

During surveying of the works area it was discovered that the wall slabs were not horizontal along the top, instead they were similar to those of a castle, with cops and indentations. This was not taken into account on the original specification supplied. However, we worked with the client and delivered a solution by adapting each cop with Gyproc Fireline board. This created a level ceiling line and compartmented the void areas, ensuring compliance to fire safety regulations. We were then able to dryline and tape and joint the walls as initially planned ready for decoration.
